Aurora Phelps, a woman from Las Vegas, has been accused of luring men through dating sites, drugging them, and stealing money from them. She is currently in custody in Mexico and faces multiple federal charges including kidnapping resulting in death, wire fraud, mail fraud, identity theft, and bank fraud. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Nevada announced a 21-count superseding indictment against Phelps. Phelps allegedly targeted mainly older men, drugged them during dates, and accessed their financial holdings while they were incapacitated. Some victims were taken across the border and found dead in Mexico City hotel rooms. Authorities believe there may be more victims beyond the four victims included in the federal indictment. Phelps used the stolen money to buy luxury goods. The FBI is encouraging anyone who believes they may have been victimized by Phelps to come forward. Phelps has also used alternative names such as Aurora Flores, Aurora Velasco, and Aurora Alvarez. She has dual citizenship with Mexico and is currently under investigation by Mexican authorities in cooperation with the FBI. If convicted, Phelps faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.
