Madison hosts inaugural Wisconsin Sports Business Conference

The University of Wisconsin-Madison is gearing up to host its first Wisconsin Sports Business Conference (WSBC) on March 6. Co-founders Jaxon Zemachson and Devin Mehta were inspired to create the conference to provide students with opportunities to learn how to achieve their dream jobs in the sports industry. Despite the university’s extensive range of majors and certificates, there are no specific programs for sports marketing or sports business careers.

The conference will feature keynote speakers such as Sascha Malas from Overtime and Karen Murphy from the Chicago Bears, as well as former Badger and NFL executive Troy Vincent. The event, held at the Discovery Building, will include networking sessions to connect students with alumni and industry professionals.

Zemachson and Mehta emphasized the unique drive and motivation of UW-Madison students, who are dedicated to success in the sports industry. This student-led initiative aims to provide a platform for students to learn, network, and potentially secure opportunities with top-tier firms like Morgan Stanley.

With the recent announcement of sports broadcaster Adrian Wojnarowski as a keynote speaker, the WSBC is generating excitement and anticipation among students. The conference promises to be a valuable learning experience for those aspiring to break into the competitive sports business field.
