The Wisconsin agricultural coalition is setting its state budget priorities in hopes of funding successful programs in the upcoming budget cycle. The coalition, led by organizations such as the Wisconsin Farm Bureau, is advocating for rural and agricultural tax relief, continued funding for programs like the Agricultural Road Improvement Program, local meat and dairy processing grants, and the Wisconsin Initiative for Agricultural Exports.
Jason Mugnaini, the director of government relations for the Wisconsin Farm Bureau, highlights the impact of these programs on the state’s agricultural industry, including improved transportation outcomes, increased processing capacity, and growth in agricultural exports. The coalition is also pushing for an expansion of the Producer-Led Watershed Protection grants in the next budget.
With Governor Tony Evers set to present his budget proposal this month, the coalition is urging the Republican-controlled Legislature to support their budget priorities before the final budget is signed into law. The coalition’s efforts aim to support and enhance Wisconsin’s agricultural sector.
