One person killed in Arizona after jet collides with plane near Scottsdale airport


One person has died and four others were injured after a plane hit another plane on the ground near Scottsdale Airport in Arizona. The crash, which occurred off the runway, was reported at 2:39 p.m. with one person found dead on arrival. Four others were injured, with two in critical condition and one refusing treatment. The crash was caused by the failure of one of the arriving plane’s main landing gear. The Federal Aviation Administration reported that a Learjet 35A crashed into a Gulfstream 200 business jet after veering off the runway. The plane that crashed belonged to Mötley Crüe frontman Vince Neil, who was not on board. The Gulfstream jet that was struck belonged to Jet Pros, a Scottsdale-based firm, with no injuries reported on that plane. Flights at the airport were temporarily paused and the incident is still under investigation. Scottsdale Airport has since reopened. Due to the ongoing investigation, authorities were unable to provide further details about the collision.
