Masters National Championships in Biathlon to be Held in Wisconsin for the First Time Ever

A small Wisconsin town is set to become the epicenter of biathlon competition in North America as competitors from the U.S. and Canada gather at Ariens Nordic Center in Brillion for the U.S. Biathlon Masters Nationals and North American Masters Championships. Biathlon combines cross-country skiing and rifle shooting, with participants racing and shooting targets along the course. The event aims to help grow the sport and improve the U.S.’s performance on the international stage.

Ariens Nordic Center, opened in 2023, will host over 100 athletes for the weekend event, offering quality viewing angles for spectators. The competition is divided by age category and will feature races from under 30 to 70 and older. The event is open to the public, and specially designed trails will allow spectators to witness the action up close.

Director of sport operations, Sean Becker, is enthusiastic about the event and believes it will put the center on the map for future biathlon competitions. With preparations underway, including manufacturing snow and training volunteers, the center is ready to welcome athletes and spectators for the exciting weekend.

Biathlon athlete and coach Gregg Pattison hopes that the visibility of the championships in Wisconsin will attract more newcomers to the sport. As the first races kick off, the weekend promises to be a unique opportunity for people to witness the excitement of biathlon competition in the heart of the U.S. wilderness.
