Zack Baun, ex-Wisconsin Badgers linebacker, emerges victorious in Super Bowl with Philadelphia Eagles

Former University of Wisconsin All-American linebacker Zack Baun made a significant impact in Super Bowl LIX at the Caesars Superdome, helping lead the Philadelphia Eagles to a 40-22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. Baun’s interception of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes in the second quarter set up a key touchdown for the Eagles, who dominated the game. The Eagles held the Chiefs to just 23 total yards in the first half and 275 overall.

Baun, who signed a one-year contract with the Eagles in March, had a standout season leading up to the Super Bowl, finishing with 151 tackles and multiple other impressive stats. He was named an All-Pro and finished fifth in the NFL Defensive Player of the Year votes.

Despite the loss, former Wisconsin linebacker Leo Chenal put up a strong performance for the Chiefs, recording four tackles and a tackle for loss. Chenal has been part of Kansas City’s past two Super Bowl wins, including a standout performance in Super Bowl LVIII. Former Badgers have been highly impactful in the Super Bowl over the years, with 24 players winning championships and participating in 38 of the 59 Super Bowls.
