A routine traffic stop in Wausaukee, Wisconsin led to the discovery of a significant amount of illegal drugs by a Marinette County Sheriff’s deputy and K9 officer on January 27th. The deputy initiated the stop due to an equipment violation on U.S. 141 and called in K9 Vinny after detecting an odor of marijuana from the vehicle. K9 Vinny successfully identified a large package containing various drugs including cocaine, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl, MDMA/ecstasy pills, marijuana, heroin, and prescription pills. Two individuals from Chicago, Preston Bennett and Dominique Grayson, were arrested and charged with multiple drug-related felonies and misdemeanors. Grayson also faced additional charges for resisting or obstructing an officer and felony possession of THC. Bond was set at $10,000 for each suspect. The incident underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat drug trafficking in the area. For more information, contact Jessica Potila at 906-228-2500 or jpotila@miningjournal.net.
