Wisconsin-based Jack and the Green Sprouts has issued a recall for 5oz packages of alfalfa sprouts after a potential contamination with listeria was discovered. The affected packages have a expiration date of 1/29/25, lot #687, and UPC #763247198915. The sprouts were sold in stores in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa. Although the company’s own tests showed negative results for contamination, routine testing by the State of Minnesota revealed the issue. Consumers are advised to throw away any packages from the affected lot number as a precaution. Listeria can be especially dangerous for young children, elderly individuals, and those with weakened immune systems. Fortunately, no illnesses have been reported in connection to this recall so far. For more information, consumers can contact Jack and the Green Sprouts at 715-425-9495.
