Two individuals, including the husband of the victim, have been charged in connection with the murder of Fort Campbell soldier Pfc. Katia Dueñas-Aguilar. Sofia Rodas, 35, was charged with murder and tampering with evidence, while Reynaldo Salinas Cruz, 40, was charged with tampering with evidence. Dueñas-Aguilar, 23, was found dead in her Clarksville home on May 18, 2024, and local police began investigating it as a homicide. Cruz and Rodas were indicted by the Montgomery County Grand Jury and extradited to Clarksville for further proceedings. They are currently in custody at the Montgomery County Jail, with Cruz set to be arraigned on Monday and Rodas given a court date in three to four weeks. Both defendants do not currently have legal representation, but will be assigned a public defender if needed following their arraignments.
Dueñas-Aguilar had been stationed at Fort Campbell since 2019, where she worked as an information technology specialist and was a member of the 101st Airborne Division’s Combat Aviation Brigade. The Clarksville Police Department emphasized the importance of collaboration between local law enforcement and military authorities in addressing serious crimes that impact service members and their families. The case remains open and the investigation is still ongoing.
