Wisconsin farmers in rural areas receive $100 million for road improvements

Governor Evers and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation have announced a $100 million investment in 55 improvement projects for rural roads and culverts in Wisconsin. This funding is part of the Agricultural Roads Improvement Program (ARIP) and is aimed at supporting the transportation of agricultural products across the state.

The agricultural industry in Wisconsin has a significant economic impact of $116 million and supports over 350,000 jobs. This investment is crucial for ensuring the safety of Wisconsinites traveling on these roads as well as for helping farmers get their products to market.

Governor Evers emphasized the importance of good infrastructure in supporting the state’s agriculture and food processing sectors, which are vital to Wisconsin’s economy. The ARIP was created as part of the Local Roads Improvement Program and has received additional funding in the governor’s recent biennial budget.

These improvements are seen as essential for the continued success of Wisconsin’s farmers, agricultural industries, and rural communities. The projects aim to modernize infrastructure and ensure that these areas have the necessary transportation access for future growth and development.
