Northwestern men’s basketball is gearing up to host No. 17 Wisconsin in the middle game of a three-game Big Ten homestand on Saturday, February 1. The Wildcats boast two of the conference’s top scorers in Nick Martinelli and Brooks Barnhizer, who are among the few teammates in power conferences averaging over 17 points per game. Northwestern’s scoring has been impressive, with Martinelli ranking 18th nationally and Barnhizer contributing 19 double-doubles over the past two seasons. Graduate student Jalen Leach has also been a strong contributor, scoring 15+ points in five of his last six games.

Northwestern has been on a scoring streak, putting up 70+ points in five straight Big Ten games for the first time in thirty years. Additionally, the team has the fewest turnovers lost in the conference and ranks third in steals per game. In their last outing against Rutgers, the Wildcats fell short 79-72 despite a strong performance from the squad.

Looking ahead to the matchup with Wisconsin, Northwestern aims to secure back-to-back home victories against the Badgers for the first time in over two decades. Wisconsin, coming off a recent road loss to Maryland, has won eight of its last ten games. The Wildcats will wrap up their homestand against USC on February 4. Fans can catch the action on FS1, ESPN 1000 WMVP, or various radio channels.
