The No. 23 Minnesota women’s basketball team secured a dominant 71-50 victory over Wisconsin on Sunday. Led by Grace Grocholski’s 17 points, the Golden Gophers had four players scoring in double digits. Mallory Heyer notched her second double-double of the season with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Minnesota out-rebounded Wisconsin 41-29 and capitalized on turnovers, turning 23 takeaways into 23 points. The Gophers had a strong performance on both ends of the court, with Sophie Hart contributing 16 points and four assists. Amaya Battle led the defense with four steals.

The game was tied at halftime, but Minnesota pulled ahead in the third quarter with a 9-0 run. They continued to extend their lead in the fourth quarter, finishing with a 71-50 victory. The team showcased strong defensive play, forcing 23 turnovers and grabbing 18 offensive rebounds.

In addition to the impressive performance on the court, Minnesota celebrated Alumni Day with 62 former Gophers in attendance. The team recorded an assist on 72% of made field goals and dominated the boards with a 41-29 edge over Wisconsin.

The win improves Minnesota’s record to 18-3 overall and 6-3 in the Big Ten conference. With a well-rounded effort from both the offense and defense, the Golden Gophers showed their strength as they continue their successful season.
