Spotlight on Student-Athlete Joey Fuhremann from UW-Platteville

The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) has launched a new weekly feature called the “Student-Athlete Spotlight” to highlight outstanding student-athletes from its member institutions. The first athlete featured is Joey Fuhremann, a Junior at UW-Platteville and a member of the Men’s Basketball team. Fuhremann chose UW-Platteville for its community, coaches, and the positive culture surrounding the school.

In the Q & A segment, Fuhremann shares his favorite Culver’s items (Turtle Sunday and Double Butterburger Basket), his favorite non-athletic spot on campus (The Bears Den), and his favorite TV show (Young Sheldon). He also talks about his greatest sports moment, hosting the round of 32 last year, and his dream job as a real estate agent. Fuhremann’s advice for younger student-athletes is to “stay the course and work hard” and his one-word description of himself is “competitive.”

Off the court, Fuhremann enjoys hanging out and watching basketball with his teammates. He looks up to his father and has three things on his bucket list: traveling to Alaska, Iceland, and skydiving. He also has a talent for video games and a pre-game superstition of always putting on his left shoe first.

The WIAC Student-Athlete Spotlights will be posted every Thursday throughout the academic year and aim to showcase the talent and diversity of student-athletes within the conference. Stay tuned for more inspiring stories from these exceptional athletes.
