Weyauwega-Fremont High School senior, Christopher Gunst, has been named Dairy Athlete of the Month for February by the Wisconsin Sports Network and Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin. Gunst, known for his balance of school, athletics, and work on his family’s farm, Wilstar Holsteins, is being recognized for his dedication and achievements in all areas. Gunst excels in varsity football and basketball, having received second team all-conference honors and the Coach’s award, as well as an academic letter. Additionally, he serves as captain of the baseball team, earning an all-conference honorable mention along with the Glove Award and MVP for the past three years.
Despite his busy schedule, Gunst also manages to take on early morning chores on the farm, focusing on calf care and feeding before heading off to school. During the show season, he competes in heifer competitions and has received numerous awards at prestigious events such as the Wisconsin Championship Show, the World Dairy Expo, and the Wisconsin State Fair. Gunst’s hard work and dedication both on and off the field have not gone unnoticed, leading to this well-deserved recognition as Dairy Athlete of the Month. His commitment to his education, his athletic pursuits, and his family’s farm exemplify the values of perseverance, dedication, and excellence that make him a standout student-athlete in the Weyauwega community.
