Food is Available to Anyone at Wisconsin’s Little Free Pantries, No Strings Attached

Amber Daugs of Manitowoc, founder and CEO of Grow It Forward, experienced food insecurity in her youth and was inspired to create a nonprofit organization focused on providing healthy food to her community. The organization runs a full pantry distribution and Little Free Pantry to ensure 24/7 access to food. Similarly, Eric Salzwedel in Marshall and the Hintgen Helping Club in La Crosse have installed Little Free Pantries to provide food and necessities to their communities. Peace Lutheran Church in Oshkosh also operates a Little Free Pantry to serve its local neighborhood, which is considered a food desert.

These community initiatives are crucial in providing food access to those in need, especially with potential cuts to food assistance programs. The Little Free Pantries offer a judgment-free and convenient way for individuals to access essential items without paperwork or identification requirements. Through these initiatives, communities are coming together to support their neighbors and address food insecurity.
