Wisconsin Investigates Allegations Against Coach Marisa Moseley

Wisconsin is investigating allegations made by former women’s basketball player Tessa Towers against coach Marisa Moseley and her staff. Towers claimed in a TikTok post that her freshman year at Wisconsin was “completely ruined” due to being treated like a “lab rat” with frequent changes in medications. She also stated that she was given an ultimatum between entering a mental hospital or being kicked off the team.

The Wisconsin athletic department issued a statement expressing concern for the well-being of their student-athletes but could not address Towers’ mental health-related claims due to privacy laws. Towers also accused Moseley of demanding access to her therapy sessions and forcing her to undergo autism testing.

Towers had a brief stint with Wisconsin, appearing in a few games before taking a leave of absence and eventually transferring to Ball State. She has since played 12 games for Ball State and is averaging 3.1 points and 1.8 rebounds.

Moseley, with a record of 44-68 at Wisconsin, came to the program after a successful tenure at Boston University. The Badgers have struggled this season, currently sitting at 10-10 overall and 1-8 in the Big Ten.

The investigation into Towers’ allegations adds to the challenges facing the Wisconsin women’s basketball program as they strive to address the concerns raised by former players and improve their performance on the court.
