Former U.S. Rep. Sean Duffy has been confirmed by the U.S. Senate as the new secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation. His nomination was approved with bipartisan support, with a vote of 77-22. Duffy has pledged to work on making Boeing airplanes safer, reducing regulations, and assisting in the development of self-driving cars for U.S. manufacturers. President Donald Trump nominated Duffy for the position shortly after his election victory in November. Duffy, who was a respected voice in Congress, resigned in 2019 to care for his newborn daughter who was born with a heart ailment. Since leaving Congress, Duffy has been a contributor at Fox News and co-hosted “The Bottom Line” on the Fox Business Network. Trump praised Duffy’s commitment to rebuilding the nation’s infrastructure and promoting a golden age of travel.
