NE Wisconsin Welcomes Winter as WTAQ News Talk Reports | Tune in to 97.5 FM · 1360 AM

GREEN BAY, WI – Winter arrived in Northeast Wisconsin with a vengeance on Wednesday, as a combination of intense snow and high winds created hazardous driving conditions. A snow squall warning was issued for the region, resulting in decreased visibility and a number of crashes reported. The powerful winds, up to 45 mph, led to a tow ban on Interstate 41 and Highway 441 in Outagamie County, which was later lifted. The Green Bay Police Department warned of slippery and icy road conditions, urging motorists to stay off the roads if possible or exercise caution if driving.

Nearly 1,400 WPS customers lost power, and temperatures were expected to drop with wind chills reaching negative numbers. Many residents in Green Bay expressed frustration with the winter weather, with the winds adding to the unpleasantness. According to data from the National Weather Service, December is historically the windiest month in Green Bay, with average wind speeds exceeding 10 miles per hour. Despite the challenges, residents are advised to slow down, plan alternate routes, and dress appropriately for the winter weather.
