Goldin leads Michigan to victory over No. 11 Wisconsin 67-64, handing Badgers their first defeat

Michigan’s Vladislav Goldin scored a career-high 24 points, leading the Wolverines to a 67-64 victory over No. 11 Wisconsin in the Big Ten opener for both teams. Goldin, who transferred from Florida Atlantic, scored 17 points in the second half and secured the win for Michigan with three consecutive baskets down the stretch. Danny Wolf added 21 points for the Wolverines, while John Tonje and John Blackwell scored 18 and 16 points, respectively, for Wisconsin. Despite a strong effort from Goldin, Michigan withstood a scoreless performance from Tre Donaldson to secure their sixth consecutive win. Wisconsin struggled with a low shooting percentage and missed opportunities at the free-throw line. Goldin’s late-game heroics, including 6 straight points, proved to be the difference-maker in the close matchup. Michigan’s strong defensive performance, with 11 blocked shots, propelled them to victory. Both teams will look to bounce back in their next games, with Michigan hosting Iowa and Wisconsin facing off against No. 5 Marquette.
