After an impressive start to the season with eight consecutive wins, the Wisconsin Badgers have climbed to the No. 11 spot in the latest USA TODAY Sports Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll. Their recent victory over the Chicago State Cougars at the Kohl Center, coupled with losses from top-ranked teams, prompted their rise in the rankings. Head coach Greg Gard’s team has shown significant improvement, moving from being unranked in the preseason to No. 11 in the coaches’ poll and No. 15 in the AP Poll.
The Big Ten conference had a strong showing in the latest poll, with six teams making the top 25 list. Wisconsin is set to face off against Michigan on Dec. 3, followed by a highly anticipated matchup against the Marquette Golden Eagles on Dec. 7. Kansas retains the top spot in the poll, with Auburn, Tennessee, Marquette, and Iowa State rounding out the top five. Notably, two-time defending national champion UConn dropped out of the rankings after a series of losses.
Oregon also made significant strides in the rankings, moving up 27 spots after impressive wins over Texas A&M and Alabama. With the momentum building for the Badgers and other Big Ten teams, college basketball fans can expect an exciting and competitive season as teams continue to battle for top spots in the polls.
