Despite Republicans gaining control of the U.S. Senate, Baldwin’s win prevents them from holding both Senate seats in Wisconsin. Baldwin’s emphasis on bipartisanship and endorsements from the Wisconsin Farm Bureau helped her secure a victory against Hovde, who tried to paint her as an out-of-touch liberal.
This win for Baldwin comes as a relief for Democrats in a state where the presidential election has been decided by narrow margins in the past. Baldwin, known for her liberal voting record, has maintained her position as a senator since 2012 and has emphasized collaboration across party lines throughout her campaign. Her victory over Hovde, a bank owner and real estate investor endorsed by Trump, showcases the continued support she has among Wisconsin voters.
