Officials in Wisconsin have certified President Donald Trump’s victory in the state following a partial recount. The certification comes after a recount requested by the Trump campaign in two heavily Democratic counties resulted in little change to the vote tally.
The Wisconsin Election Commission chairman stated that the recount showed that election officials and poll workers did an excellent job of counting the votes accurately and transparently. The certification solidifies Trump’s win in the state, giving him 1,610,184 votes compared to President-elect Joe Biden’s 1,630,716 votes. Trump’s campaign paid $3 million for the recount, which only changed the vote totals by a few dozen votes.
The certification of the results in Wisconsin comes as Trump’s legal team continues to challenge the election results in several key battleground states. Despite this, Biden’s victory in the Electoral College has been certified, with him receiving 306 electoral votes compared to Trump’s 232.
The certification of Trump’s victory in Wisconsin solidifies his standing in the state and adds to the ongoing controversy surrounding the presidential election results.
