Ski hills in southeast Wisconsin are adapting to the changing winters by investing in snowmaking technology. Little Switzerland Ski Area in Slinger is one of many ski resorts using artificial snow to keep their slopes open and attract skiers and snowboarders. Despite the lack of natural snowfall this season, Little Switzerland Ski Area remains open for business thanks to their snow-making machines. Other winter attractions, like Winter Realms in Lake Geneva, have been forced to close due to the warm weather trends. The use of artificial snow has become a necessary adaptation for ski hills in the region to stay viable.
Snowboarders like Pat Michaels appreciate the efforts to maintain the slopes, noting that the artificial snow feels no different. While some legislative initiatives have been proposed to provide relief for businesses impacted by the lack of snowfall, such as a bill by Sen. Tammy Baldwin, nothing has been implemented yet. Skiing enthusiasts are encouraged to support these winter attractions and enjoy the snowy slopes regardless of Mother Nature’s whims.
