Missouri authorities report six individuals rescued alive from destroyed home after explosion

Six individuals were rescued from a collapsed home in Jefferson City, Missouri, after an unexplained explosion caused the structure to mangle. All six were taken to University Hospital with moderate to severe injuries, some suffering from smoke inhalation. Three of the patients were in critical condition and required extensive life support procedures. The rescue operation was challenging due to the extensive structural collapse and significant debris. It took more than three hours to extract all six individuals and two pets from the rubble. The cause of the explosion remains under investigation. The Jefferson City Fire Department’s Special Operations Rescue Team was instrumental in the successful rescue, along with the help of 37 personnel on the scene. The agency credited their training and equipment for the successful operation. The patients’ gender and ages were not disclosed, and there was no update on their condition. The city fire department reported that the home had completely collapsed, with some parts nearly flattened on the snow-covered ground. The capital of Missouri, Jefferson City, is about 133 miles west of St. Louis.
