Christine Heller Seaman, a New York woman, has been haunted by the disappearance of her grandparents, Catherine and Charles Romer, for 44 years. The couple vanished along with their car, a 1978 Lincoln Continental, while traveling home from Miami Beach in 1980. Recently, what is believed to be their car was discovered submerged in a Georgia pond, leading Seaman’s family to believe that the mystery may soon be solved.
The discovery of human remains, including a femur and personal belongings such as jewelry and a license plate with the couple’s initials, has brought some closure to the family. Although positive identifications are still pending, Seaman and her family now believe that the couple likely died in an accident rather than falling victim to foul play.
Seaman described her grandmother, Catherine, as the “life of the party” who was close to her and her sisters. Catherine loved thoroughbred racing and traveling, making everyone feel special. Charles Romer was described as a kind and generous man.
The recent developments have allowed the family to reminisce about their missing relatives and celebrate their lives without the constant feeling of dread. Seaman expressed gratitude towards the investigators and diving team that helped uncover the submerged car, bringing them closer to finding closure after decades of uncertainty.
Seaman’s family is hopeful that they will soon have answers to the mystery that has plagued them for so many years and are grateful for the efforts of those who have been involved in the investigation.
