The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men’s hockey team suffered a 5-1 loss to No. 2 St. Norbert College in the series opener at Cornerstone Community Center. St. Norbert scored three goals in the first period and added two more in the third, while UW-Eau Claire managed to score one goal in the third period courtesy of Nolan Grier. Goalie Max Gutjahr made 22 saves in the game.
The series will continue on Saturday, November 30, with the Blugolds hosting the Green Knights at Hobbs Ice Arena. Fans can follow the team’s progress on Blugolds.com, the Blugold Sports app, and social media.
The defeat puts the Blugolds at 2-4-1 for the season, while St. Norbert remains undefeated at 10-0-0. UW-Eau Claire will be looking to bounce back in the second game of the series as they aim to secure a win on home ice.
