Trump’s victory in Wisconsin officially certified

Wisconsin’s election commission leader, Ann Jacobs, quietly certified Donald Trump’s victory in the state on Friday, with Trump winning by 29,397 votes over Democrat Kamala Harris. This certification comes after a chaotic aftermath of the 2020 election, where Trump challenged Joe Biden’s victory in the state.

Despite Trump demanding recounts and filing lawsuits to challenge the results, the outcome remained the same, with Biden ultimately winning Wisconsin by about 21,000 votes. The state Supreme Court dismissed Trump’s case, and a federal judge dismissed another lawsuit seeking to overturn the results.

Following pressure from Trump, Wisconsin Assembly Speaker Robin Vos hired former state Supreme Court Justice Michael Gableman to investigate allegations of fraud and abuse related to the election. However, the investigation turned up nothing, and Gableman is now facing complaints for violating conduct rules.

The election commission’s nonpartisan administrator, Meagan Wolfe, has also faced scrutiny and false claims from conspiracy theorists regarding the election. Despite efforts from Republican legislators to fire her, the commission has filed a lawsuit to keep her in her post.

While Trump’s victory in Wisconsin has calmed conservative anger, some within the GOP remain skeptical of election processes. However, other states that experienced tumultuous certifications during the 2020 election and 2022 midterms have smoothly approved their results in recent weeks.

Overall, Trump’s victory in Wisconsin has been officially certified, putting an end to the chaos and legal battles that surrounded the 2020 election results in the state.
