Trump’s victory in Wisconsin is confirmed; several ballots deemed invalid

The Wisconsin Election Commission quietly certified Donald Trump’s victory in the state on Friday, with a margin of 29,397 votes or 0.9% over Democrat Kamala Harris. This certification, conducted in a six-minute Zoom teleconference, stood in stark contrast to the chaos that followed the 2020 election when Trump refused to accept the results showing Joe Biden’s victory. The legal challenges and recounts that ensued did not change the outcome, and a lengthy investigation by former state Supreme Court Justice Michael Gableman found no evidence of fraud.

The only irregularity in this year’s election occurred in Shawano County, where 117 ballots had to be tossed out due to an administrative error. This did not impact the results of any race. With Trump’s victory now officially certified, conservative anger has subsided, but skepticism over election processes, particularly regarding mail-in ballots, remains within a faction of the GOP. However, other states that experienced turmoil during the 2020 election and 2022 midterms have smoothly approved their results recently.
