The Wisconsin Elections Commission Chair, Ann Jacobs, will be canvassing the results of the November General Election on Friday morning, marking the final major step in the state’s certification process. Once the canvass statements are signed, the results will become official for all state-level and federal contests, including the presidential contest. The process for certifying the U.S. Senate contest differs slightly, with the Chair canvassing the results and the Commission preparing a certificate of election for the governor to sign, which will then be sent to the U.S. Senate.
The Chair will also canvass the presidential contest results, determining them based on the result statements from each of the 72 counties. A certificate of ascertainment will be prepared by the Commission with the results, which the governor will sign before moving on to the presidential electors. Wisconsin Elections Commission Administrator Meagan Wolfe expressed confidence in the state’s election officials’ ability to handle the task, emphasizing their commitment to fair, accurate, and transparent elections. The canvass paperwork will be available on the WEC website for public viewing.
