A salmonella outbreak linked to cucumbers has affected 68 people in 19 states, with 18 hospitalizations reported. The CDC has identified the source of the outbreak as cucumbers produced by Agrotato, S.A. de C.V. in Sonora, Mexico, including cucumbers from SunFed Produce, LLC. SunFed has recalled all sizes of cucumbers packaged in bulk cardboard containers. Consumers are advised to check the stickers on their cucumbers and throw away any with the label “SunFedMexico” or purchased between Oct 12 and Nov 26 and wash any surfaces that may have come in contact with the recalled cucumbers. If severe salmonella symptoms occur, individuals are urged to contact their healthcare provider. Businesses are instructed not to sell or serve the recalled cucumbers, wash surfaces that may have been in contact with them, and inform customers who purchased the affected cucumbers. No deaths have been reported in connection with the outbreak.
