The San Diego State women’s basketball team remains undefeated after a hard-fought 73-67 victory over Wisconsin at the Cancun Challenge. Despite losing their lead in the fourth quarter, the Aztecs rallied back with a 15-6 run, led by freshman Nat Martinez who scored a game-high 22 points, including crucial back-to-back threes. Head coach Stacie Terry-Hutson praised her team’s resilience and commended Martinez for her fearless performance. Veronica Sheffey also had an impressive game with 15 points, eight assists, seven rebounds, and three steals. Despite foul trouble limiting Adryana Quezada’s playing time, the Aztecs managed to secure the win with stellar team effort. Jazlen Green continued her streak of double-digit scoring and emphasized the importance of composure in tight situations, crediting Coach Fisher for the team’s calm demeanor. The Aztecs look to extend their winning streak against VCU in their next game at the Cancun Challenge.
