Lawmakers in Washington D.C. have left the Capitol for the Thanksgiving holiday, with plans to return in early December to pass a budget. Spectrum News spoke with members of the Wisconsin delegation about their Thanksgiving plans and what they are most looking forward to during the holiday season.
Representative Mark Pocan expressed his love for cranberries, highlighting Wisconsin’s cranberry industry, while Representative Tony Wied shared his tradition of spending Thanksgiving with family and enjoying pecan pie. Representative Derrick Van Orden spoke about the joy of being with his family, and Representative Glenn Grothman mentioned his longtime tradition of watching the Detroit Lions play on Thanksgiving.
Representative Scott Fitzgerald enjoys playing football with his family on Thanksgiving, while Congressman Tom Tiffany is looking forward to cutting down a Christmas tree from his own property for the first time in years.
Lawmakers will reconvene in Washington in early December, but for now, they are enjoying the holiday season in Wisconsin. Enjoying family, food, and traditions, they are taking a break from their duties in the Capitol to celebrate Thanksgiving with loved ones.
