Costco is recalling organic eggs sold under their Kirkland Signature brand due to possible salmonella contamination. Handsome Brook Farms, the supplier, is recalling approximately 10,800 retail units sold in 25 Costco stores in five Southern states. The affected eggs have a Julian code of 327 and a “use by” date of Jan. 6, 2025. The recall was initiated after it was discovered that eggs not intended for stores were mistakenly packaged and distributed. No illnesses have been reported in connection with the recalled eggs. Handsome Brook Farms is implementing additional supply chain controls and retraining to prevent similar incidents in the future. Consumers who purchased the affected eggs should return them to Costco for a full refund or dispose of them. This recall is being done in cooperation with the Food and Drug Administration.
