In Wellesley, Massachusetts, a worker was seriously injured while hanging Christmas lights on a tree. The contractor, a 22-year-old man from NZ Power Wash in Framingham, was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after receiving an electric shock around 10 a.m. The man was using a 34-foot pole to string up lights when it either came close to or touched an electrical line on a utility pole, causing the shock. He collapsed and was found in apparent cardiac arrest, but was revived after multiple attempts with an automated external defibrillator. He was taken to Newton Wellesley Hospital and then transferred to Massachusetts General Hospital for further treatment. The incident is being investigated by OSHA, along with local authorities and the Wellesley Municipal Light Plant. A coworker who witnessed the incident declined to comment but mentioned that the man is recovering in the hospital. Wellesley police, fire, and WMLP departments expressed their thoughts and prayers for the victim and his family during this tragic event. The victim’s condition and the investigation into the incident are ongoing, with authorities working to determine the cause of the electric shock.
