Jurors in New Mexico have awarded a man over $412 million in a medical malpractice case involving a men’s health clinic operating in multiple states. The man was misdiagnosed and treated with dangerous penile injections, leading to irreversible damage. The plaintiff’s attorneys hope this verdict will prevent others from falling victim to similar fraud. This case is the largest amount ever awarded in a medical malpractice case in the U.S. The plaintiff’s attorneys described the actions of the clinic as a breach of trust and fiduciary duty. The lawsuit alleged that the clinic set up a fraudulent scheme to make money off conning older men into unnecessary treatments. The clinic workers reportedly pressured patients into agreeing to injections by claiming they would suffer irreversible damage if they did not comply. The company president stated that they are focused on delivering responsible patient care and maintaining safety standards at their facilities. The jury found that the defendants’ fraudulent and negligent conduct caused damages to the plaintiff and violated the Unfair Practices Act. NuMale Medical Center operates in several states, including Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Nevada, Nebraska, North Carolina, and Wisconsin.
