With Thanksgiving holiday travel well underway, a storm tracking from the Rockies to the Midwest and Northeast into Thursday is impacting flights and roads. Nearly 3 million people were expected to be screened by the TSA, with record car travel numbers. The storm will bring rain, snow, and ice throughout the Midwest and Northeast, impacting flights and causing delays. Some airports experienced delays due to a shortage of air traffic controllers, deicing planes, and adverse weather conditions. Thanksgiving Day will bring rain for the East Coast, while the interior Northeast and New England will see heavy snow. Windy conditions may lead to power outages in some areas. The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is expected to go on in New York City despite rain. Cold and snowy weather is forecast for the northern Plains and upper Midwest through Sunday. Authorities are warning travelers to take precautions when leaving their cars in airport parking lots, as car theft has been an issue at several airports across the country. Police are implementing additional security measures to address this issue.
