Officials at Alabama A&M apologized for incorrectly announcing the death of football player Medrick Burnett Jr. The school had initially been told by a family member that Burnett had passed away, but later learned that he was still alive and in stable condition. Burnett was seriously injured during a game last month, suffering from brain bleeds and swelling. His family set up a fundraiser to help with medical expenses, and Burnett remains in the hospital. The redshirt freshman linebacker has played in seven games this season, transferring from Grambling to Alabama A&M. Despite the initial incorrect announcement, Burnett’s family will issue a statement about their experience when the time is right. Alabama A&M has one more game left in the season against Florida A&M.
