The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) will be featuring student-athletes in a “Student-Athlete Spotlight” segment each week during the 2024-25 academic year. The segment will showcase one male and one female athlete from one of the eight institutions within the WIAC. Culver’s will be presenting the WIAC Student-Athlete Spotlights.
This week’s featured student-athlete is Brynlee Nelson from UW-Platteville. Nelson is a senior majoring in Elementary Education and competes in Women’s Basketball. She chose UW-Platteville for its beautiful campus, proximity to home, and strong community support.
Nelson enjoys competing in the WIAC because of the conference’s competitiveness and the opportunity to prioritize her academics as a Division III student-athlete. Her favorite Culver’s Flavor of the Day is Dark Chocolate PB Crunch, and she enjoys eating Cheese Curds from the menu.
Off the court, Nelson likes attending other UW-Platteville sporting events with her teammates. She looks up to her older sister and aspires to become a Teacher/Coach in the future. Her advice to younger student-athletes is to work hard, have fun, and take time for themselves.
Nelson’s dream job is to be a Teacher/Coach, and on her bucket list is learning how to snowboard, going whitewater rafting, and running a marathon. She also has a talent for playing the piano and must braid her hair before every game as a pre-game ritual. Nelson describes herself as passionate.
