Wanted Animal Rights Extremist Captured in Wales After Two Decades on the Run for U.S. Bombings

Daniel Andreas San Diego, an animal rights extremist suspected of carrying out two bombings in Northern California over 20 years ago, has been captured by authorities in Wales. The bombings, which targeted biotech and nutritional companies, were believed to be in protest of animal experimentation. Despite being on the run for two decades, San Diego was finally apprehended by North Wales Police, the National Crime Agency, and the U.K.’s Counter Terrorism Police.

FBI Director Christopher Wray praised San Diego’s capture, stating that the suspect will be held accountable for his alleged acts of violence and destruction. The bombings occurred at Chiron Corp. in Emeryville and Shaklee Corp. in Pleasanton, with no injuries reported. San Diego, described as a vegan and computer network specialist, targeted the companies for their association with animal experiments.

Novartis AG, which acquired Chiron Corp. in 2005, did not provide immediate comment. Shaklee Corporation, a California company that does not conduct animal testing, also refrained from commenting. Wray emphasized that violence and property destruction are not acceptable ways to express one’s views in society. The FBI’s determination and persistence were highlighted as the driving forces behind San Diego’s arrest after a prolonged period of evasion. The story continues to develop, with updates anticipated.
