O’Brien to take over as new leader of hospital association

After serving as the CEO of the Wisconsin Hospital Association for 10 years, Eric Borgerding has announced his retirement in June 2022. He will be succeeded by Kyle O’Brien, who has been with WHA for 12 years and has experience in government relations. Borgerding, who has been with WHA for 23 years, focused on increasing the number of healthcare professionals in Wisconsin, advocating for medical malpractice system preservation, creating Medicaid payment programs, and reforming hospital regulations during his tenure. O’Brien, who has worked for members of the state Assembly and Senate, as well as in the Department of Health Services during former Gov. Scott Walker’s administration, is set to become the seventh leader in WHA’s 104-year history. The transition is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the organization’s leadership as it continues to work towards improving healthcare in Wisconsin.
