Start of 2024 Wisconsin Gun Deer Hunt

The 2024 Wisconsin gun-deer hunting season has officially begun, running through December 1st. Hunters are reminded that legal shooting hours start 30 minutes before sunrise and end 20 minutes after sunset, with blaze orange attire required. Approximately 550,000 hunters are expected to participate in the nine-day season, aiming to thin the state’s deer herd nearing two million. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources advises hunters on safety measures and encourages them to donate deer to Paul’s Pantry’s Hunt for the Hungry program, which provides food to families in need across Northeast Wisconsin. Established in 1984, the program works in partnership with the DNR’s Deer Donation Program, distributing deer to food pantries statewide. Hunters are encouraged to share their experiences and photos from this hunting season.
