Marietta College Men’s Basketball Falls to Wisconsin-La Crosse at Great Lakes Invitational
Grand Rapids, Mich. — Marietta College’s men’s basketball team suffered a setback in their season as they fell to Wisconsin-La Crosse, 99-75, during the Great Lakes Invitational at Calvin University on Friday. The loss places Marietta’s season record at 3-1, while La Crosse also improves to 3-1.
The game began with Marietta racing to an early advantage, leading by as many as seven points at 19-12 within the first seven minutes. However, Wisconsin-La Crosse quickly countered, tying the score at 21-21 with just over 11 minutes remaining in the first half, following a free throw by Torin Hannah.
The Eagles then took control, establishing a significant lead with a dominating 25-8 run fueled by five three-pointers, ultimately closing the half at 56-33. As the second half commenced, La Crosse’s hot shooting extended their lead to more than 30 points. A late three-pointer by Marietta’s Ryan Magill momentarily narrowed the deficit, but the outcome was largely decided with just over a minute remaining.
Jayden Bradshaw stood out for Marietta, leading all scorers with 28 points, including six three-pointers. His teammates contributed significantly, with Frank Waganfeald adding 15 points and seven rebounds, while Jake Singleton and Landry Palata chipped in nine and eight points, respectively.
Wisconsin-La Crosse showcased a balanced offensive effort with five players reaching double figures. Dustin Derousseau was the standout, scoring 20 points and grabbing five rebounds, followed by Karter Thomas with 19 points and Sam Greiger with 16.
Marietta will look to rebound as they conclude their participation in the Great Lakes Invitational on Saturday, facing Hope College at 1 p.m.
