Las Vegas police arrested 57 striking casino workers on Thursday at a protest outside Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, the Culinary Union said. The workers staged a walkout over stalled negotiations for a new five-year union pay contract. Images and videos posted by the union showed members blocking a road and some being handcuffed by police during the protest. Culinary Union President Diana Valles was also arrested during the demonstration. Las Vegas police reopened a road near the casino that was closed due to the protests. The city is hosting the Formula One Grand Prix this weekend. Virgin Hotels Las Vegas is owned by JC Hospitality, Juniper Capital Partners, Virgin Group, and others. The hotel did not respond to a request for comment from Reuters.
