A transgender woman in Boston was violently attacked by a man named Gregory Burnett at the Maverick train station on Halloween. The victim reported being punched, kicked, and verbally abused with derogatory terms. Burnett allegedly pulled her leg, causing her to fall and fracture her wrist. The woman believed the attack was motivated by her gender identity. District Attorney Kevin Hayden condemned the attack, stating that everyone has the right to travel safely without facing abuse for their sexual orientation or gender identity. The attack occurred on a stopped Blue Line train, where Burnett boarded and immediately assaulted the victim before other passengers had to intervene to help. Burnett was identified through witness descriptions and surveillance video, leading to his arrest on charges of assault and battery causing serious bodily injury, assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and civil rights violation with injury. It is unclear if he has legal representation. The incident highlights the ongoing issue of violence against transgender individuals and serves as a reminder of the importance of tolerance and respect for all individuals, regardless of their gender identity.
