Wisconsin Congressman considers phasing out the use of X

Congressman Mark Pocan, D-Madison, is one of many Democratic lawmakers and entertainers considering leaving Twitter, now known as X, for the smaller platform BlueSky. Critics say X has become a hub for misinformation, hate speech, and far-right conspiracies since billionaire Elon Musk took over. Musk’s political views and lack of content moderation have led many, including Pocan, to seek a new platform. BlueSky, which has seen rapid growth following Trump’s election, offers a more positive experience for its users. Pocan, along with other prominent Democrats and even a Republican senator, has opened an account on BlueSky. While some lawmakers are still active on X, Pocan is considering phasing out his presence due to the platform’s biased content and lack of usefulness. Despite criticism from his Republican colleagues, Pocan believes it’s important to find a platform that doesn’t skew politically or insult its users. Musk, who has faced backlash for his handling of X, has suggested that leaving the platform is self-destructive. As more individuals and public figures make the switch to BlueSky, the exodus from X continues to gain momentum.
