Wisconsin Democrats have reelected Greta Neubauer as their Assembly minority leader following the party’s success in flipping nearly a dozen seats in the recent elections. Neubauer, who represents part of southern Racine County, was unanimously chosen during a caucus meeting at the state Capitol. She has been in office since 2018 and has served as minority leader since 2021.
The Democratic leadership team also includes Rep. Kalan Haywood as assistant minority leader, Rep. Lisa Subeck as caucus chair, Rep. Clinton Anderson as vice-caucus chair, Rep. Mike Bare as caucus secretary, and Rep. Jodi Emerson as sergeant-at-arms.
Neubauer’s efforts helped Democrats secure victories in 10 Republican Assembly districts, reducing the GOP advantage in the chamber to 54-44. The surge was attributed to new district boundaries signed into law by Democratic Governor Tony Evers.
Neubauer expressed excitement about the upcoming session and pledged to work on a policy agenda that is inclusive and reflects the will of the people. She looks forward to collaborating with Governor Evers and her colleagues to advocate for all Wisconsinites and address the challenges facing the state.
Overall, the re-election of Neubauer and the Democratic leadership team signals a new phase for the party in the Wisconsin Assembly, with a focus on implementing a progressive agenda and representing the interests of the people of Wisconsin.
