The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) is shining a spotlight on student-athletes each week during the 2024-25 academic year. This week, UW-River Falls senior Brooke Lemke is featured for her achievements in women’s ice hockey. Lemke, a Finance major and Accounting minor, chose UW-River Falls for its competitive hockey program, facilities, and small campus.
Lemke also participates in Athletes Intervarsity and enjoys the academic focus and individual attention at WIAC as a NCAA Division III student-athlete. Her favorite Culver’s items include the Spicy Crispy Chicken Sandwich and Really Reese’s Flavor of the Day. Outside of sports, Lemke enjoys hanging out at Rodli Hall and watching Modern Family.
Her greatest sports moment was winning the national championship last season, and she likes to play pickleball and hang out with teammates off the field. Lemke looks up to her Grandma and advises younger athletes to enjoy every moment, especially during tough times. Describing herself as hardworking, her dream job is to promote workout clothing brands while getting paid to workout.
On her bucket list are skiing in Colorado, surfing in the ocean, and driving a Lamborghini. Lemke’s non-athletic talent is making amazing pancakes, and she retapes her stick before every game. WIAC’s Student-Athlete Spotlight provides a glimpse into the talented and diverse student-athletes of the conference, showcasing their achievements both on and off the field.
