Wisconsin Democrats have reelected Greta Neubauer as Assembly minority leader, following her successful efforts in flipping nearly a dozen seats in the recent elections. Neubauer, who represents a portion of southern Racine County, was unanimously chosen by Assembly Democrats during a caucus meeting at the state Capitol. She has been serving as minority leader since 2021 after being first elected to the Assembly in 2018.
Neubauer played a key role in helping Democrats win 10 Republican Assembly districts in the November 5 election, reducing the GOP lead in the chamber to 54-44. The shift was largely attributed to new district boundaries signed into law by Democratic Governor Tony Evers earlier in the year.
In a statement, Neubauer expressed that the Democrats’ policy agenda going forward will align with the will of the people, although she did not provide further details. This re-election solidifies Neubauer’s position as a leader within the Democratic Party in Wisconsin, and her success in flipping seats demonstrates her ability to mobilize support and secure victories for the party.
Moving forward, Neubauer is expected to continue advocating for policies that reflect the priorities of Wisconsinites, while working towards achieving a more balanced representation in the state Assembly. Her re-election signifies confidence within the party in her leadership and strategic capabilities, and sets a positive tone for the party’s future initiatives and goals.
