Sean Duffy chosen by Trump as transportation secretary

President-elect Donald Trump has named former congressman and Fox Business host Sean Duffy as his pick for transportation secretary in his upcoming administration. This appointment comes after Trump previously announced that he would nominate Fox News personality Pete Hegseth to lead the Defense Department.

Trump praised Duffy for his time in Congress, advocating for fiscal responsibility, economic growth, and rural development. He believes Duffy will use his experience to maintain and rebuild the nation’s infrastructure and elevate the travel experience for all Americans.

Duffy’s appointment requires Senate confirmation, and if confirmed, he will be responsible for overseeing roughly 58,000 workers at the Transportation Department. Duffy served in the House from 2011 to 2019, where he was a member of the Financial Services Committee and chairman of a subcommittee on oversight and investigations. He left Congress in 2019 after learning that his child would be born with a heart condition.

In response to his appointment, Duffy expressed eagerness to help usher in a new era of transportation. He and his wife, Rachel Campos-Duffy, both gained attention from their appearances on the reality TV series “The Real World.” Duffy’s departure from Fox News was announced in conjunction with his new role in the Trump administration.
