Chippewa Falls Welcomes New Winter Farmer’s Market
CHIPPEWA FALLS (WQOW) – The Chippewa Falls community celebrated the launch of its brand new winter farmer’s market on Saturday at the recently opened Market on River. The event drew an impressive crowd of approximately 1,000 attendees who came to shop, engage, and learn about the significance of supporting smaller farms in the area.
Organized by the Wisconsin Farmer’s Union, the market’s positive reception signals a strong community interest in local produce and farm-to-table connections. "We didn’t expect this many people, but it clearly shows that the community desires more support for local and small businesses," said Julie Bomar, executive director of the Wisconsin Farmer’s Union. She emphasized that the turnout highlights a growing trend in consumer behavior—people prefer to spend their money and time in ways that foster local connections and sustainability.
The Wisconsin Farmer’s Union has been a vital part of the Chippewa Valley for nearly a century, dedicated to sustaining and promoting local agricultural practices. The organization hopes that with continued support and interest from the community, the winter market will become a staple event in the Chippewa Valley.
The launch of the winter market not only aims to provide fresh produce and local goods to residents but also fosters community relationships and educational opportunities regarding the importance of local agriculture. As the winter market continues, organizers are optimistic about its future growth and its role in connecting community members to the region’s farming heritage.
